Trends, developments, and guidance

Short description

Technological developments, innovative mobility options and social megatrends lead to a change in mobility. But what are the consequences for German companies, which send more than 11 million employees on business travel every year? For them, a secure, flexible and needs-oriented mobility is central - the journey is not just seen as a movement from A to B but as a process: from planning and booking to payment, controlling and evaluation. In addition to the employees´ safety, cost savings, legal requirements and long-term considerations, the desire for individual forms of mobility becomes more important, especially among younger generations. As business trips are a key factor for the economic success of companies, it is of great importance for German companies to accompany the change in mobility and its impact on business mobility.

On behalf of the VDR (German Business Travel Association), AccorHotels Deutschland GmbH, Avis Budget Autovermietung GmbH & Co. KG and ZF Friedrichshafen AG, the Fraunhofer IML evaluates the future of business travel.

Focus of the study is the question of where business mobility is developing and what that means for the requirements and the activities of companies, their travel managers / mobility managers, business travellers and the VDR.

The study is targeting the three topics

        technologies,

        mobility and travel forms,

        business travellers´ demands and attitudes

With an online survey, business mobility stakeholders can assess trends that are subsequently aggregated into a future image of business mobility. Based on the results of the survey and the resulting future image of business mobility in the year 2025, possibilities for action are derived for companies, travel managers/mobility managers and the German Business Travel Association. A significant feature of the study is that it is developed throughout an interactive process between the VDR, VDR members and travel managers/mobility managers. This allows a 360 ° assessment of the results.
