What means "Privacy"?

Privacy describes the protection of personal information (PII) from misuse. The aim is to protect individuals from being impaired in their right to informational self-determination through the handling of his or her personal data. PII is defined as any information about an identified or identifiable natural person. An identifiable person is one who can be identified, directly or indirectly, in particular by reference to an identification number or to one or more specific elements expressing his physical, physiological, mental, economic, cultural or social identity.

Privacy in software engineering

In our department, data protection is an important feature in the development of new architectures for software solutions. The principle of privacy by design, which is indispensable in the development of new systems, is always applied, because privacy is essential for service providers in the context of compliance with rules and business risk.
