SCP - Supply Chain Planning

Joint Project of the EffizienzCluster LogistikRuhr

The importance of global production networks and the connected logistic relation has been significantly increasing over the last years. Planning of global supply networks is an enormous challenge for the companies involved. Cooperations are continually tested; longer delivery times and shorter product life cycles require a frequent replanning. Constant planning readiness and flexibility are the key to permanently operate a network successfully. Toady’s available IT solutions for the planning of such networks are insufficient in many aspects. Especially the needed adaptability of the IT to changing processes is only possible with a large expenditure.

Target

Target of the joint project, which is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, is the development of new methods and tools to support logistic planning tasks in complex logistic networks. Therefore, solution modules are developed that can be used universally for different planning tasks in supply chains. These are provided in a “Plug & Plan-Suite” modular system. The solution modules can be combined with small adaptations as configurable services for a user-specific logistics assistance system for the supply chain planning.

Innovation

The most important innovation is the development of individually combinable service modules for logistic planning tasks. These modules are applicable for companies with different sizes. They can be configured for the respective use case via a cloud platform (E.g. LogisticsMall) in an easy and inexpensive way. In addition to the development of planning modules, innovative methods are developed for the planning of production cooperations and for the planning support in distribution networks.
