Order picking - the core of all logistics centres - contributes significantly to the competitiveness of a company with the »production« of delivery orders. In order to meet internal as well as external performance and quality requirements, targeted planning is necessary to determine the most suitable order-picking systems.
However, due to the large number of different systems and suppliers, the market is complex which makes the optimal selection of a suitable order picking system very difficult and is a challenge for any modern company.
The team of experts at Fraunhofer IML offers a user-friendly and practical solution to this problem: to support the planning and selection process methodically and make it more transparent, Fraunhofer IML has developed a system for structuring and selecting order-picking systems based on individual modules. With it, the search for a suitable order-picking system is made considerably simpler! Thanks to the data from expert interviews with both suppliers and users of order picking systems during development of the platform, the functionality and realism of the system are guaranteed!
