Curriculum vitae
Prof. Michael Henke has been the Director of Enterprise Logistics at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML and has held the Chair of Enterprise Logistics (LFO) at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at TU Dortmund University since September 2013.
In 2022, LUT University (Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT) in Finland awarded Michael Henke an honorary doctorate in recognition of his many years of dedication as an Adjunct Professor for Supply Chain Management and the resulting collaboration. Additionally, he has served as a Guest Professor for Logistics at the Chinese-German College (CDHK) at Tongji University in Shanghai, China, since 2019, and held the position of Advisory Professor since 2022. Since 2018, he has also been a Guest Professor for Strategic Sourcing and Procurement at the Louvain School of Management at the Université Catholique de Louvain in Belgium. Michael Henke is the speaker for the topic network on Mobility, Logistics, and Aerospace Engineering at acatech (National Academy of Science and Engineering) and is a member of the board of trustees of the Open Logistics Foundation.
His research and teaching concentrates on procurement, logistics, and supply chain management and his research interests include technology management, with a particular focus on AI management, blockchain, and smart contracting, as well as sustainability and resilience. He is also specialized in financial supply chain management and supply chain risk management, actively participating in international networks (e.g., he is a founding and EU board member of the Supply Chain Finance Community (SCF)).
Michael Henke began his career by studying brewing and beverage technology (Dipl.-Ing.) at the Technical University of Munich, where he later earned a doctorate and completed his habilitation at the Faculty of Economics. During and after his habilitation, he worked for the Supply Management Group SMG in St. Gallen, among other positions. From 2007 to 2013, Michael Henke conducted research and taught as a professor at the EBS Universität for Business and Law.
