There were also numerous application examples for an IoT gateway in logistics. Fraunhofer IML successfully demonstrated how control and sensor data could be processed in real time and transferred to control systems. The Software & Information Engineering department developed the concept for optimized process monitoring and analysis of machine data.

 

Technical implementation and advantages

 

The software concept developed enabled precise monitoring and analysis of process data. This led to a significant increase in the productivity of systems and machines. The most important functions of the IoT gateway included:

  • Real-time data processing for optimized control systems
  • Integration of sensor data for process monitoring
  • Increased efficiency and transparency in logistics

 

Live demonstration at the SPS trade fair

 

The team presented the IoT gateway at the international trade fair SPS for automation technology. The added value of the technology for logistics was impressively demonstrated using five demonstrators. In addition, the team members developed a web application that enabled intuitive control and analysis of the data.
