SiMBA:
Dynamic pricing for machine capacity in shared manufacturing

Dynamic pricing addresses the question of how companies can use  their available resources efficiently and flexibly in shared manufacturing. AI-supported, dynamic pricing ensures optimal utilization, therefore reduces costs. costs, and promotes sustainable use of resources. Blockchain technology enables transparent and secure processing of all transactions.

Financial innovation for the shop floor with SiMBA

SiMBA is an open source solution for autonomous order creation, execution, and billing in the sharing economy. With the help of artificial intelligence, prices for shared machine capacities are adjusted in real time and according to demand. The model responds flexibly to supply and demand, maximizing efficiency and flexibility in resource utilization. Dynamic pricing, familiar from airline and train bookings, is being applied to AI-based B2B business for the first time, creating new opportunities for cost optimization and sustainable utilization.

Project goal: Dynamic pricing for maximum efficiency and flexibility

SiMBA is the open source solution for order creation, execution, and billing in the sharing economy. The goal is to maximize efficiency and flexibility in the use of these resources through innovative pricing models while optimizing costs for the companies involved.

Blockchain technology ensures transparent and secure persistence of results. Smart contracts enable the tokenization of assets as well as the automated, rule-based processing of financial transactions and agreements. Companies benefit from strategic and optimal pricing, flexible use, and sustainable resource conservation.

The open source solution SiMBA supports autonomous order creation, execution, and billing in the sharing economy. Companies can contribute their own use cases as associated partners, provide relevant data, and be actively involved in implementation.

The first version of the service has been published on GitHub and is available for download.

The solution: AI and blockchain for flexible pricing

SiMBA uses artificial intelligence to control pricing for machine capacity flexibly and in line with demand. Prices are adjusted in real time based on utilization, forecasts, and individual requirements. Blockchain technology ensures automated, secure, and transparent transactions. The publication of relevant blockchain and AI components as open-source solutions promotes their use by SMEs in particular.

Use case: Optimal pricing in shared manufacturing

Several companies share production machines. The AI-based solution calculates machine utilization and adjusts prices flexibly. When demand is high, the price rises; when utilization is low, it falls – this allows free capacity to be better utilized and costs to be distributed fairly. Blockchain-based billing ensures transparency and security. Elastic pricing is already familiar from flight or train bookings and is being transferred to AI-based B2B business for the first time here.

Open source for transparency

SiMBA is released as open source. Companies can use the software free of charge, participate as validation or development partners, and become a part of the community.

SKALA (funding number 45KI26A011) bundles scalable AI and blockchain building blocks, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation (BMDS). The goal is to create a federated, decentralized ecosystem for secure process automation in production, logistics, and SCM. As a subproject in the “Dynamic Pricing” focus area, SiMBA provides an open source solution for autonomous order creation, execution, and billing in the sharing economy.
