MultiRELOAD - Efficient and sustainable freight transport solutions

The MultiRELOAD project aimed to develop more efficient multimodal freight transport solutions and thereby achieve a sustainable reduction in emissions. As part of the project, inland freight transport was optimized in selected demonstration ports and unused capacities of inland vessels and rail transport were integrated more closely into the transport processes.

 

Core objectives and developments

 

The project focused on:

  • Optimization of freight transport at demonstration sites
  • Shifting transportation to inland waterway vessels and rail transport
  • Efficient use of existing infrastructure to reduce emissions

 

Project coordination and implementation

 

An essential part of the project was the development of a visualization platform that:

  • Clearly presents data on multimodal freight transport
  • Traffic flows and capacity utilization analyzed
  • Provides real-time information for improved transportation planning

 

Results and added value

 

The solutions developed in the project:

  • Sustainable transportation solutions created for freight transport
  • Making multimodal transport chains more efficient
  • CO₂ emissions reduced by shifting to more environmentally friendly modes of transport
