Efficient playtime calculation for shuttle storage systems

The Software & Information Engineering department at Fraunhofer IML developed a tool for calculating cycle times in warehouse systems in which shuttles are used. These vehicles, which move independently in the pallet channel, could be picked up and transported by carrier vehicles.

 

Use and benefits of the tool

 

The tool developed for calculating playing time was used by the sales department to:

  • Calculate the required number of shuttles and carrier vehicles for specific projects
  • Efficiently analyze individual customer requirements
  • Enable optimized planning and simulation of warehouse processes

 

Technical implementation and increased efficiency

 

By using the tool, it was possible to precisely simulate the operating times of storage systems, which enabled better planning and more economical use of the vehicles deployed. Companies benefited from:
