Born in 1978 in Hamburg.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alice Kirchheim has been the institute director at Fraunhofer IML and has held the Chair of Material Handling and Warehousing at the TU Dortmund University since 2024.
She studied Computer Engineering at Hamburg University of Technology and earned her doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) at the University of Bremen.
After her academic career, she worked as a freelance intralogistics consultant and later at the KION Group, most recently as Head of Estimation and Layout. Her return to academia began as a professor for "Process Management in Production and Logistics" at Aalen University. From there, she was appointed to the professorship for "Logistics Systems Technology" at Helmut Schmidt University / University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg, where she worked until her appointment to TU Dortmund University in conjunction with the institute leadership at Fraunhofer IML.
