Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alice Kirchheim is an expert in intralogistics with a focus on the planning and design of intralogistics systems, the automation of logistics processes, and the use of AI in intralogistics. Since April 2024, Alice Kirchheim has been Director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML and holds the Chair of Material Handling and Warehousing at TU Dortmund University.
Alice Kirchheim studied computer engineering at the Hamburg University of Technology. She then worked at the Bremen Institute for Production and Logistics (BIBA) at the University of Bremen, where she earned her doctorate with a thesis on a method for automating logistics processes. After working at University of Applied Science Reutlingen, she worked as a freelance intralogistics consultant. She worked in various positions within the KION Group, most recently as Head of Estimation & Layout. She returned to academia as a professor of process management in production and logistics at Aalen University. Most recently, she was a professor of logistics systems technology at Helmut Schmidt University / University of the Federal Armed Forces Hamburg.
