InnoLogBat - Research for sustainable battery logistics in e-mobility

InnoLogBat - Sustainable battery logistics for e-mobility

In the InnoLogBat research project, Fraunhofer IML, as consortium leader, worked together with Fraunhofer HHI, Leipzig University, Remondis Industrie Service, Rhenus Automotive SE and Mercedes-Benz Energy GmbH on a sustainable circular economy for lithium-ion batteries.

Research focus and objectives

The project focused on:

  • Safe storage and handling of batteries along the entire supply chain
  • Efficient concepts for the second life of batteries after use in e-mobility
  • Innovative approaches for recycling and remanufacturing processes

Results and added value

The solutions developed have enabled companies to:

  • Realizing resource-saving battery logistics
  • Improving safety standards along the supply chain
  • Enabling efficient recycling and disposal of batteries
