Logistics is the discipline behind the scenes. It ensures that things run smoothly and it is not noticed as long as everything functions properly. The Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML ensures that this is how it stays. All complex research topics – from route planning in transport logistics and production planning and control in production logistics to inventory management in warehouse logistics – require information technology support because in this day and age logistics is not possible without modern IT.

The Department of Software Engineering at Fraunhofer IML develops customized IT solutions for all of the branches of logistics and the adjacent technical and business disciplines.
