This year's IRCE (International Conference on Intelligent Robotics and Control Engineering), which took place from the 10th to the 12th of August, offered participants the opportunity to present and discuss the topics of intelligent robotics, automation and control technology and processes in the field of artificial intelligence. The aim of the conference was to promote interdisciplinary and international cooperation and to strengthen the international recognition of the participants in pure and applied research.

Fraunhofer IML was represented by Keng Chai, who presented the paper » Generation, Classification and Segmentation of Point Clouds in Logistic Context with PointNet++ and DGCNN«, which was prepared in cooperation with Jana Jost and Jonas Stenzel. Due to the lack of scientific knowledge about deep learning based 3D object recognition in logistic environments, the paper investigates the generation of point clouds in logistics and the use of deep learning for classification and segmentation of the generated data sets.
