The parking of vehicles as a form of storage also belongs to the topics of Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics. The so-called »stationary traffic« is a global growing problem. One attempt to solve this problem is an automatically handled garage. This system offers a higher space and volume utilisation. Besides volumes of basement rooms can be developed for the parking of automobiles, which can’t be used for conventional parking systems. In addition to parking systems for automobiles the parking of bicycles becomes a stronger focus. Projects and new ideas in both fields have occurred. In these fields Fraunhofer IML can offer following activities:

  • Design, development and realisation of prototypes for new components for automobile or bicycle parking systems
  • Development and realisation of control systems and stock management
  • Design of parking systems and selecting of suitable technologies, in consideration of volume utilisation, performance requirements and efficiency
  • Issue of performance specifications and tender documents
  • Determining the performance by means of simulation
  • Realisation, commissioning and acceptance procedure
  • Failure or weak point analysis, reports, development of solutions
